Introduction

MTDify (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides downloadable, self-hosted, and local-first bookkeeping software.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

Because MTDify Local Edition and MTDify Lite Edition run entirely on your own device or your own server, we do not store, access, or process your financial data.

This policy is divided into two parts:

  1. Data collected by our website (mtdify.uk)

  2. Data processed by our software running on your device/server

Part 1 — Data Collected by Our Website

Our sales site (mtdify.uk) collects minimal information.

Information We Collect

  • Contact form submissions (name, email, message)

  • Purchase information (handled securely by Djangify.com via Stripe)

  • Email address (if you subscribe to updates)

We do not collect financial data through the website.

How We Use This Data

  • Responding to enquiries

  • Processing your purchase

  • Sending product updates (if you opted in)

  • Improving our website

Cookies

We use only essential and functional cookies on mtdify.uk, such as:

  • Session cookies

  • CSRF protection cookies

  • Shopping/checkout cookies (on Djangify.com)

We do not use advertising cookies or behavioural tracking.

Third Parties

We use trusted third-party services:

  • Stripe (payments)

  • Djangify.com (product delivery)

  • Hetzner (hosting for the website only)

  • Email service providers

These services may collect IP address and basic technical logs for security and operational purposes.

Part 2 — Data Collected by Our Software (Local + Lite Editions)

Local Edition (runs entirely on your computer)

When you run MTDify Local Edition:

  • All income, expense, business, and financial data is stored locally on your own device

  • No data is sent to us

  • No remote servers, APIs, sync, telemetry, or tracking

  • You are the data controller

  • MTDify does not have access to your data

Lite Edition (self-hosted on your server)

When you self-host MTDify Lite:

  • Your server stores all data

  • We do not have access to your server or your data

  • You are the data controller and data processor

We do not log, store, or transmit:

  • Financial information

  • Income and expenses

  • Business details

  • Uploaded files or receipts

  • Any tax identifiers

Installation Service

If you choose our optional installation service:

  • You grant us temporary SSH access

  • Access is used ONLY to install the software

  • Access is removed or revoked by you immediately after installation

  • We do not copy, store, or retain any data

  • We do not log into your system after installation

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request deletion of website contact data

  • Opt out of emails

  • Request exports of website-submitted information

Because Local/Lite store data only on your device/server, you manage your own records.

Data Security

We follow best practices for website security only:

  • HTTPS/TLS

  • Server firewall

  • Strong access controls

  • No customer financial data stored

Local/Lite security is your responsibility, since the data lives entirely on your environment.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted with updated dates.
